International Gambling Disorder Screening Day Set for March 11, 2025
Gambling Disorder Screening Day occurs annually on the second Tuesday of March during Problem Gambling Awareness Month. The 2025 event will take place on Tuesday, March 11.
Established in 2014, this international initiative helps identify individuals who may have Gambling Disorder and need further assessment. The program has grown from its origins at Cambridge Health Alliance in Massachusetts to reach supporters worldwide.
Gambling Disorder can cause severe financial, emotional, social, occupational, and physical harm. Many cases go undetected due to limited screening, making early detection crucial for effective intervention.
Organizations interested in participating can access the free Screening Day Toolkit, which includes:
- Customizable screening day flyers
- BBGS e-Screener (Brief Biosocial Gambling Screen)
- Educational article "What Is Gambling Disorder?"
For those affected by gambling problems, help is available 24/7 through:
- National Problem Gambling Helpline: 1-800-GAMBLER
- Text: 800GAM
- Online chat: www.1800gamblerchat.org
The service is completely free and confidential. Support is provided without judgment or shame.

The National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG), a neutral nonprofit organization on legalized gambling, oversees these initiatives to reduce gambling-related harm nationwide. While Screening Day is an annual event, organizations are encouraged to conduct year-round screening for gambling-related problems.
