Valve has introduced a playful Year of the Snake Easter egg in Dota 2, causing players' single "S" key presses to appear as triple "S" in the in-game chat. This feature arrived alongside the "Charms of the Snake" treasure update on January 29.

The community has responded with amusement to this serpentine joke, with many players initially believing their keyboards were malfunctioning. A Reddit thread quickly filled with players sharing their experiences with the unexpected chat feature.

However, the update has also sparked controversy due to the new sets being untradeable - a departure from traditional "ultra rare" sets that could be traded and sold on the Steam community market. This change has disappointed fans who previously could recover some costs through trading.

The Dota 2 community is currently anticipating a major gameplay update, expected to arrive on February 6, as the Crownfall act nears its end. Until then, players will continue to experience the slithering effects of this seasonal Easter egg.
