Riot Games has achieved a remarkable milestone of 103 million monthly players in League of Legends, marking their 10-year anniversary. This achievement dwarfs their closest competitor, Dota 2, which reported 13 million monthly players in June. The figure represents significant growth from their last reported number of 67 million monthly players two years ago.
The game's success is reflected in its expanding esports scene, including the League Championship Series in North America and Europe, and the annual World Championship tournament. To commemorate this achievement, Riot's founders Brandon "Ryze" Beck and Marc "Tryndamere" Merrill released a YouTube video titled "Thank You: Looking Back on Ten Years," discussing their journey from the company's early challenges to its current success.
