In a historic IEM Katowice Legends Stage match, Renegades secured their first-ever Major top 8 appearance by defeating Team Vitality in a thrilling best-of-three series. The Australian squad showcased exceptional performance across all three maps: Dust 2, Cache, and Inferno.
Renegades dominated Dust 2 with an impressive 16-5 victory, leveraging a strong T-side performance that saw them secure 11 rounds. Vitality bounced back on Cache, claiming a 16-11 win through superior CT-side play and strategic T-side execution.
The decisive Inferno match proved to be the most intense, with Vitality initially leading 7-5 on T-side. However, Renegades mounted a remarkable nine-round comeback. Sean "Gratisfaction" Kaiwai played a crucial role, achieving a 1.24 rating and 57-46 KDA, while Justin "jks" Savage delivered a standout performance with 31 kills on Inferno and a 69-42 overall KDA.
This victory marks Renegades' first achievement of Legend status at a Major tournament. Vitality will have one final opportunity to qualify for the Champions Stage in their next match.
