Call of Duty developers have preemptively nerfed the new AMR Mod 4 sniper rifle before its official launch in Warzone, addressing balance concerns early.

The AMR Mod 4, the game's first new sniper since launch, promises high damage potential with one-shot elimination capabilities across the upper body (excluding armor). To balance this power, the weapon features slow aim speed and heavy recoil, though these can be modified with attachments.

Key Changes in December 19 Update:

• Disabled CHF Barrel attachment for AMR Mod 4 to prevent one-shot headshot kills
• Unlocked Akimbo Saug SMG and COR 45 pistol restrictions
• Improved audio balance:
  • Increased enemy footstep volume
  • Decreased first-person player footstep volume
  • Reduced environmental reverb effects on all footsteps

The AMR Mod 4 is now available through the Archie's Festival Frenzy event. Early testing suggests the weapon remains powerful even without the CHF Barrel attachment, maintaining competitive viability while avoiding potential balance issues in Battle Royale and Resurgence modes.

The audio improvements address long-standing community feedback about footstep detection, aiming to create more balanced engagement opportunities and reduce instances of unexpected close-quarter encounters.
